[2.0] Removing Funnel ID from the URL

[2.0] Removing Funnel ID from the URL

When you publish a funnel on bucket.io, a funnel ID is added at the end of the URL, such as "sf/b373b806". This is because one domain can host multiple funnels, and the funnel ID distinguishes one funnel from another. For example, the URL for a published funnel with the ID b373b806 would look like this: https://preview.bucket.io/sf/b373b806.

However, we understand that remembering a long URL with an ID can be difficult, especially when sharing it during a podcast, on stage, or other situations. Fortunately, there is a way to obtain a "clean URL" without the funnel ID.

Please note that this is not a feature provided by bucket.io, but rather a workaround discovered by other users. Also, our support for this workaround is limited since it involves setting up your DNS settings.

URL redirect from your DNS provider

  1. To achieve a clean URL, you need two domains - let's call them A and B. Domain A could be quiz.theveganhouse.com, and domain B would be theveganhouse.com.
  2. You would need to register domain B in bucket.io by following the custom domain instructions provided HERE
  3. Once you have published a funnel using domain B, the URL should look similar to this: https://theveganhouse.com/sf/b373b806.
  1. Next, go to your DNS settings and set up domain A (which should not be registered in bucket) to forward or redirect to domain B.
  2. This will result in https://quiz.theveganhouse.com/ redirecting to https://theveganhouse.com/sf/b373b806.
  3. This way, when people type in quiz.theveganhouse.com on their browser (domain A), they will automatically be redirected to the funnel link (domain B).

Using this practice makes it easier for people to remember the funnel URL, especially when you need to share it verbally during a podcast, video recording, or even via text.
