[3.0] Integrating Mailchimp with bucket.io

[3.0] Integrating Mailchimp with bucket.io

Before transferring data (name, email, responses, etc.) from bucket.io to Mailchimp, two things must happen first:

  1. Link or integrate bucket.io with Mailchimp via API (steps 1 and 2 in this article).

  2. Set up integration at the settings page of the funnel - here is where Tags ( labels you create to help organize your contacts into Mailchimp and label contacts based on data you know about them), and Merge Field Mapping (which come in handy when capturing permanent data relative to a contact that is not easily changed, and is stored in the contact table and profile pages) are assigned.

Note:

  • Mailchimp Tags: If they have not been previously created in Mailchimp, bucket.io will create them once traffic starts going through the funnel.

  • Mailchimp Merge Field Mapping: Unlike tags, they must be created in Mailchimp first or bucket.io will not be able to find them and fill in the data.

STEP # 1: Find MailChimp’s API key

Once logged into Mailchimp, click the account profile located at the top-right corner, usually it has the user’s name.

  1. By clicking Under account name or profile, a drop-down menu will be deployed, then click Account

  2. Once on the Account menu click Extras which also displays a drop-down menu

  3. From the drop-down menu click API Keys

  4. Save the API Key since it will be needed in the next step

Note: If no API Key has been created yet, it will prompt to create one first.

STEP # 2: Integrate the API key in bucket.io

Once logged into bucket.io, click the account profile located at the top-right corner - usually it has the user’s name.

  1. By clicking Under account name or profile it deploys a drop-down menu, click My Account

  2. Click Add New Integration to go to the integrations menu

  3. Click the Mailchimp icon to open the integration and then click Add New Account

  4. It prompts to enter the API key - copy and paste the API key provided by Mailchimp

  5. Click Save Integration

NOTE: The system should give a confirmation message at the top displaying “Integration Added Successfully” and the Mailchimp icon should no longer have a plus (+)  sign indicating that something needs to be added - instead, it should display a gear icon.

For the next step(s) please look for the article Setting up the Mailchimp Integration in bucket.io, as it addresses the way to fill out the form inside bucket.io.
